7 June Introduction to Cascaid internet program LAUNCHPAD.

Every student will be given their own personal log and be trained to use the program which is accessible from any device connected to the internet.  The program allows students to explore career choices based on their likes and dislikes.

Year 9 are taken off timetable for a day to take part in several activities which should help clarify their GCSE option choices, the activities include;

1] Introduction to the higher level cascade program KUDOS which is a great research and information tool concerning future choices.

2] Workshop with senior teacher regarding GCSE option choices and the process and procedures for applying.

3] Meeting with local business partners who talk about their own career ‘journey’ and how they use academic subjects in the workplace etc.  Parents volunteer to support this activity. If you would like to learn more about volunteering to help, please contact careers@beauchamps.essex.sch.uk

4] Team building exercise which encourages students to take leadership roles and practice their communication skills.

The one – one careers sessions start.  Students can refer themselves for an appointment, also parents and teachers/head of year can refer young people who they think will benefit from early intervention from the career guidance specialist. [day one] CV and interview skill workshop. Students are taken off timetable to take part in a 2-hour workshop which will support them in preparing to apply for apprenticeships and college/6th form places.

[day two] All year 11 students are offered the opportunity to take part in a professional ‘mock’ interview which will take up to 30 minutes.  Students will be able to dress appropriately for an interview and will be given verbal and written feedback on how they completed their application form and their preparation for the interview.
