Miss Katharine Ferrant - Parent Governor

I am a mother of two children and my daughter is currently at Beauchamps High School.  I feel that I can bring a fresh perspective to the existing Governing Body. Like every parent I want the very best for my children.  I believe that every child has the right to be happy, confident and become the very best they can be.  A child’s education is crucial to their academic achievements as well as their development of social and life skills. I have considerable experience in the public sector involving managing budgets, setting aims and objectives, devising and overseeing policy development, developing and evaluating work programmes, governance and working in partnership with large multi-professional teams.  My roles have also involved regular direct engagement with members of the public.  I possess a B(MUS) Music Degree from the University of Surrey. As a parent I am keen to support the school work with the Governing Body in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team to maintain standards and improve outcomes for all children.  I am passionate about the role.  I am also a member of the Parent and Community Advisory Board (PCAB) at Pioneer School in Basildon where my son is a pupil.

Mr Paul Strange - Parent Governor

I spent over six years on the governing body of an Outstanding local school.  During that time, I made many visits, attended training, spent two years as Chair of the Resources Committee and took part in many committee and full governing body meetings.  I also took part in the school’s OFSTED inspection that reaffirmed the school as Outstanding. I am committed to excellence in education and access to quality teaching for students from all backgrounds and of all abilities. I am a former Beauchamps pupil who lives locally and whose eldest son is currently in year seven.  I have been very impressed by what I have seen in his first term and would like the opportunity to help continue the school’s excellent provision and of course help to develop and improve things where needed. I have worked in the third sector developing skills that include team and project management and managing large budgets. On a personal level I have experience of the needs of gifted and talented students and those with Special Educational Needs and with a wife who is a teacher at another school have a good understanding of the demands from a teaching perspective. I would work with the existing governing body to ensure Beauchamps is a safe, enriching environment that offers all students the best possible opportunities to achieve their full potential.
