Initial Teacher Trainees 2023-2024

Mr Gonella

My name is Mr Gonella and I am a trainee teacher in Business Studies. I attended university in Leeds and completed a degree in Business Management. Before joining Beauchamps I was a Cover Supervisor which sparked my interest into becoming a teacher. Prior to this, working in education never crossed my mind, however I have always worked with children through volunteering as a sports coach in my spare time so stepping into the classroom felt like a natural progression.
I am training with BEC completing the 1 year QTS and PGCE. I chose this pathway as I wanted to be hands on from day 1 and learn on the job. It’s hard work and a lot to take in but I am loving every second of it and learning more every day.
Although I am still early in my training journey, I feel very privileged to be working at Beauchamps. I couldn’t ask for a better department to work with and the level of support is phenomenal. The staff and students here have been friendly and welcoming, and I already feel a part of the community. In the future, I aspire to be an outstanding teacher who inspires students to become the best version of themselves and reach their maximum potential.

Miss Johnson

My name is Miss Johnson. I’m a trainee teacher in the English department. Teaching has always been a distant dream that I clung to through most of my education, and I am so grateful I took the plunge to do it! I can’t imagine myself in any other job, I love the creative outlet it invites.
In the words of Audrey Hepburn ‘Nothing is impossible, the word itself is ‘I’m Possible’’. Reading her autobiography inspired me to want to help others and be present in people’s lives- to make a difference!
Prior to my training, I attended the University of Greenwich where I studied English Literature. I have always loved getting lost in a book and analyse pretty much everything in my life! English was always my favourite subject inside and outside of school and studying it further at both A-level and degree level allowed me an opportunity to explore literature further. I have also worked part time as a pharmacy dispenser, test administrator and invigilator. I am a social butterfly who loves a constantly changing dynamic! Teaching is the embodiment of this, and I am excited for what it will entail.
I have started my journey with Billericay Education Consortium and expecting to have completed my ITT training by June. So far, I have found the experience challenging but enjoyable! I relish in pushing myself out of my comfort zone and cannot wait to see what I can achieve through the training. I feel very lucky to have a placement at Beauchamps High school. The staff and students have been welcoming and accommodating, I appreciate all of the help they have given me so far. I would like to give special thanks to the English department for taking time out of their busy schedules to help me, give feedback, being positive and full of praise. I feel like I have known them for years! I would also like to thank Miss Blucher, who has been my mentor, my support system and a friend. I feel incredibly lucky to have such a kind, patient, and considerate mentor.
I would like to continue to develop my role as a teacher, impacting the futures of students and helping them flourish. I feel positive that my career will develop, and I look forward to hopefully taking on further roles. I am currently looking to vary my wider school responsibilities, starting with a very merry Christmas book drive!
